About ABC-Write Start Read!

      Our Director, Christine D'Amico, has a B.A. in French and Elementary Education, and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in Children's Literature. As part of her studies, Christine spent a year in France studying French pedagogy. In her 20 years of public school teaching she has taught, elementary education grades (K-5), drama, French, language arts and reading. Ms. D'Amico is also part of the Core Knowledge community of teachers and administrators and serves on the Executive Board in France of a Professional Teacher's Organization called "La Troisieme Voie." She is committed to bringing innovative, research-based, curricula to her students. Christine is aware of current trends and common pitfalls of reading instruction in schools. She trains teachers around the country and world. In addition, Ms. D'Amico gives important input in curriculum development to the Pearson Learning Group. In 2004, she was elected "Teacher of the Year" in her school, due to her dedication and commitment to excellence. Christine has 17 years experience in private tutoring and public education. Always using a multi-sensory approach to instruction, her students learn quickly and painlessly.

      All tutors who work with our tutoring service, are trained in all teaching materials. We choose only the most compassionate and skilled tutors to work with our students. Christine remains in contact with all tutors and clients, assuring quality tutoring for every student.

                 Often times, administrators make the argument that given the right teacher, any curricular choice can work; however, it has been my experience over the past 17 years as an educator that the right curricular choice can mean the difference between wasting hours of precious teaching time and properly instructing students. It is for this very reason that I have done an extensive review of many varied teaching approaches. It is my goal to find the most efficient and effective teaching methods.
                  In order to maximize learning, our experienced teachers use a hands-on approach. Our teachers incorporate drama and music into their tutoring. The ABC-Write Start Read! curricula choices are research-based and follow the rigorous Core Knowledge guidelines. Whereas school administrators are often politically motivated in their instructional choices, our only agenda is to offer the best instructive materials to our students.
